Introduction to JavaScript

Presented at ~conf July 14, 2003 by Andrew Hedges, Design Team Manager, Interactive Multimedia Applications Group

Welcome to Introduction to JavaScript! This course assumes that you are familiar with hand coding HTML and Cascading Stylesheets (CSS) as well as basic features of Web browser software.

Learning Objectives

At the conclusion of Introduction to JavaScript, it is my hope we will have achieved the following learning objectives:

  1. Participants will be able to understand and write simple JavaScript scripts
  2. Participants will be able to add basic scripts to their Web pages
  3. Participants will understand the differences and relative advantages of linked and inline scripts
  4. Participants will be able to implement the JavaScript functionality built-in to Dreamweaver on their pages
  5. Participants will know where to go to learn more about JavaScript
